More than code

If you need a dev shop, you’re in the wrong place. If you need a team of code-agnostic product specialists to build your dream thing, you’ve hit the jackpot.

Origin Story

Making great products since 2006

Coalesce was created by R. Staton Piercey and Justin Rancourt way back when the web was still wired (we’ve even done our share of Cat 5 rigging in various crawl spaces). As wifi and mobile became mainstream, our company evolved to fit the needs of our clients—brave souls with great ideas. Although we’ve come a long way from the early web, we’re still solving digital problems the best way we know how: pairing best-in-class tech with a smart, reliable team you can trust.

We choose work that inspires us, technology-based or otherwise. It all comes together when we can work with creative and passionate individuals who have the drive to push their product forward and the trust to let us do our best work.

We’re still based in NYC but currently working remotely across the globe.

Philosophy

01
Build fast and iterate often. Build fast and iterate often.

Building something quickly to begin testing it isn’t always glamorous, but it begins the feedback loop—the life-blood of digital products. With product development, your assumptions can only get you so far. We know that the best way to make a world-class product is to make improvements based on data and insights. And the best way to get that data is to put a product in the hands of those using it. So we say get it out there. Even if it’s not perfect. Because the sooner you do, the sooner it will be.

02
Find the right fit. Find the right fit.

We believe in setting realistic expectations, experimenting when needed, and dreaming big. Throw in as much transparency as possible, make sure you have objectives-based goals, and you’ve got our recipe for development. We know that our process works best when partners and clients align with those goals. So we go out of our way to make sure you (and us) feel seen, heard, and understood.

03
Stay weird. Stay weird.

We are drawn to the unusual and unconventional. We try our best to embrace change. And we push ourselves to experiment. We once bought a billboard in Tennessee. We host an annual ski competition honoring the Norse god Ullr. We launched a music management company because we had so many ideas to help the music business. We’re in the middle of creating our own coffee. And we chose the lowly pigeon, an underrepresented powerhouse of aviation, as our mascot. So yeah. We like weird. And more importantly, we like weirdos. Want to join the flock?
